Apartment builder in Bankstown
Calibre Construction Group completed two apartment buildings in Bankstown in 2018, both under design and construct contracts. Serenity Bankstown on Percy Street has 60 two and three bedroom apartments across two six-level towers over a two-level basement. Serenity French Avenue, one block from the town centre, has 69 apartments over ten levels with a ground floor commercial tenancy. Together they add 129 apartments to a suburb where Calibre has also built at Canterbury and Roselands, all within the City of Canterbury-Bankstown, the council area where the company's office sits. Bankstown's centre is being rebuilt around the Metro conversion of the Bankstown line and the new hospital and university precinct, and the planning controls for the CBD have been revised to allow more height close to the station. For a developer with a Bankstown site, Calibre brings two completed buildings in the town centre and a local office.
The Bankstown CBD is in the middle of a decade of change: the Bankstown line conversion to Metro, the planned health and education precinct, and revised height controls around the station. Most new sites are close to the centre and carry ground floor commercial requirements.
Both Calibre buildings here were delivered in the same year. Percy Street is a residential street south of the station; French Avenue sits on the commercial edge of the centre, which is why that building carries a shop at street level.
